Resolves YES if
Formal declaration of war on Lebanon or Hezbollah
Announcement or commencement of ground operations into Lebanon to combat Hezbollah
IDF says today they have been carrying out raids inside Lebanon for months already. https://www.indiatoday.in/world/story/israel-hezbollah-conflict-idf-lebanon-offensive-raids-2609511-2024-10-01

IDF officially confirms the ground operation has begun, though suggesting it will be limited in scope
@strutheo Probably would be good to get a ruling on whether โlimited, localized, and targeted ground raidsโ counts already or if this has to escalate further
@Arky @BaryLevy isn't this covered by the question description?
Resolves YES if
Formal declaration of war on Lebanon or Hezbollah
Announcement or commencement of ground operations into Lebanon to combat Hezbollah
I'm reading these bullets as an "or", and they've announced ground operations in the tweet above.
@Arky i think this would count as a ground operation as opposed to say an artillery bombardment or drone warfare. itโs boots on the ground.
@datachef all that stuff is true, but is irrelevant to the resolution criteria, or can you explain which one is fulfilled?
@derpy what is a โformal declaration of warโ? The IDF has repeatedly said this in an Official capacity. The Knesset in on war cabinet footing.

@TallUntidyGothGF I think they do, but we probably have tanks crossing the border in the next few weeks anyway

In order to prevent the rearming of Hezbollah through Syria and Iran, the IDF imposed a military blockade on Lebanon. During the last day, Lebanese bulldozers were attacked from the air trying to restore the 6 land border crossings between Lebanon and Syria, which were bombed by the Air Force in the middle of the week. In addition, the IDF L has officially informed Lebanon that it will not allow planes to land in Beirut coming from Syria or Iran, as happened this morning. Civil movement will be allowed. Iranian ships may also be stopped off the coast of Lebanon.
