Resolution Criteria
This market resolves to YES if early presidential elections are held in Turkey before December 31, 2025. It resolves to NO if no early presidential elections are held in Turkey by that date.
For resolution purposes, "early presidential elections" means elections for the President of Turkey that occur before the regularly scheduled election date in 2028.
Background
Turkey's next regular presidential election is scheduled for May 2028. However, there have been discussions about the possibility of early elections. The main opposition party, the Republican People's Party (CHP), has suggested that elections could potentially occur in November 2025, though this would require President Erdogan's cooperation.
The CHP is currently preparing for this possibility, with a preliminary election to determine their presidential candidate set for March 23, 2025. Any early election would require significant political consensus or legal adjustments to Turkey's electoral calendar.
