This email was written in 2018 and Larry stopped playing decisive role in Google in 2015 when Sundar became CEO.

bought Ṁ100 Google YES

“Larry Page” would not fit in the original email. Change that to “Larry” perhaps?

@ValeriiR If the text were "Larry", the market would resolve to "Larry Page".

@noaht2 (unless it's not clear that that's the Larry he was referring to)

UPDATE: Wow, not sure if this is enough for a resolution, but in Walter Isaacson's book he mentions Elon telling Demis "The future of AI should not be controlled by Larry"

At a 2013 birthday celebration for Musk, per Isaacson’s account, the two fought over whether AI could actually replace humans. Shortly after, Musk approached Demis Hassabis, co-founder of DeepMind, and urged him against letting Google acquire the company. “The future of AI should not be controlled by Larry,” Musk told Hassabis, per Isaacson. It didn’t work, and Google acquired DeepMind in 2014 for $500 million.

@elf well, he refer to them as "they" so it's most likely not a single person hiding in the redacted text.

@Magnus_ In the second line of the email he mentions “Deepmind/Google”. That’s the ‘they’ he is referring to given that’s the subject of the email & the ongoing subject of their correspondence.

He wouldn’t say “Unfortunately , humanity’s future is in the hands of Google” as that would be redundant given he said that in the second line. It would have to be someone powerful connected to Google/Deepmind and the redacted text is too short for it to be multiple people.

@elf Could be.

Larry would seem to make more sense given that he (along with Sergei) has ultimate control via majority voting rights of Alphabet & could therefore fire Demis or anyone else.

Elon has also mentioned how he was close with Larry and would stay over at his house frequently & was concerned about Larry calling him a "speciesist"
