Will resolve YES if purchasing the Apple Vision Pro 2 (through official channels) requires the customer to come to a physical Apple Store (or other retailer) to get it fitted.

NO otherwise.

Update / Clarification: The outcome of this market will depend on whether a customer will have to physically go to a store to pick up the device.

Purchased my Vision Pro today and while it was recommended, I was not required to go to the store for a fitting. I may regret this. But I think this can officially be resolved.

If I hadn’t chosen delivery it would show a pickup date.

@ChuckLauerVose This market is about the Apple Vision Pro 2 (if it ever exists)

@DylanSlagh Ohhhhhhhh. Okay

@ChuckLauerVose Its now very unlikely for it to be different, but I'll wait to actually resolve it.

Outrageous pricing apart; I think for VR tech fitting is very important aspect. Hence I think its the right move for apple to have that condition. I am not sure how customizable their devices are, but I would like to have more customizable settings on my oculus quest 2. Maybe we are living through VR moment of Microsoft creating games like solitaire to make us more confortable with using a mouse.

@ftkurt Aparently the device is already custom fitted based on a face id scan of your face. No in-store trip required

predicts YES

@DylanSlagh Well at this point anything is speculation. It is to be seen on 2nd February.

bought Ṁ75 of NO

@ftkurt nope, the info comes directly from an email from Apple: https://9to5mac.com/2024/01/12/apple-vision-pro-pre-order-process/

@DylanSlagh This says "When you order Apple Vision Pro, you’ll need to scan your face with an iPhone or iPad with Face ID. This helps us determine the right size Light Seal and head bands, which work together to give you a precise fit." I guess this is not technically a fitting, but comes pretty close.

The more important part is "Because Apple Vision Pro is designed to be worn without glasses, we’ve partnered with ZEISS to create custom optical inserts that accommodate most prescriptions. When you order, we’ll ask a few quick questions to find out if you need optical inserts. If you do, you’ll upload a valid, unexpired prescription from a U.S. eye‑care professional after checkout." But I guess that shouldn't count as a fitting.

@nic_kup Yeah I agree; its still possible they will only use that info to order correct size, but you might still need to visit the store.

@nic_kup Isn’t the “in-store” part the most relevant part for this market? Rather than whether it does or doesn’t technically count as a fitting

@DylanSlagh I think that is fair.

The current Vision Pro does not require this, is this market about predicting an increase in customer friction?

predicts YES

@DavidFWatson I think you do have to go to apple store to get a vision pro.

@DavidFWatson Lol, sure

@nic_kup lol, that's a year old article. They use faceid to scan your face

Does the slash mean AND or OR?

@GraceKind I'm assume they come together. My guess would be that if AVP2 did not require fitting they would just let you order it. I hope they manage to do some kind of automatic fitting.

@nic_kup I think it would be better for me to resolve based on the FITTING if it comes down to it, but I'm open to other suggestions.
