If Google.com's core search service goes down in 2024, this market will resolve YES. I will be very lenient with my definition of downtime because many users have the expectation that Google never goes down. If Google doesn't go down, this market resolves NO on January 1st, 2025.
Downtime as used in this market is defined as a core feature of Google.com Search not being available for atleast 5 minutes for a sizable amount of users in atleast one large geographical region. This doesn't require that an error message is seen on Google.com, but if an essential functionality (such as search results loading) cannot be completed, it counts as being down.
Since this happens rarely, it is usually accompanied by news reports. Here is an example from 2022, which would be sufficient to resolve as YES: https://www.cnbc.com/2022/08/09/google-down-outage-reported-by-thousands-users-around-the-world.html. However, a news report is not necessary. If something akin to "Google Down" trends on X, Downdetector reports a sizable outage, or Google themselves confirm their were issues, those would all be sufficient to resolve as YES.
