@Ziddletwix movie drops tomorrow and the review embargo is still up. Pretty big red flag that theyโre hiding something.
@mattyb Yeah looks like the review embargo drops this morning (might be 1pm est?), that sounds troubling but the Twitter reactions I saw were mostly fine? Probably currently have it a bit too high
@mattyb https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/drive_away_dolls 78% out of 40. Looks like this dumpuary market can finally enjoy a win, phew (& that the studio just had zero plan for marketing the movie I guess)
@mattyb and yet just weeks ago we were still so full of hope, so naive...
(except madame web, no one was naive about that, RIP)
@Ziddletwix iโm saddest about Bob Marley. It always looked like it fit the Walk Hard model perfectly, but many of those movies are still decent.
Driveaway Dolls is the monthโs last chance. Save us Ethan Coen, you're our only hope
@mattyb Bummer. (from unscientifically the first wave of reviews on twitter, seems basically to match those reacions). despite all evidence that this is how it would go, I still had some slim hope this would be one of those weird reversals
@Ziddletwix I think thereโs a real question if audiences react to the film, will it be โso good itโs badโ or just bad.
@mattyb yup. all tracking looks bleak but still possible that it catches on & people give it a try in theaters.
tbh I whiffed by not creating a market for the Madame Web vs Morbius (15%) RT duelโthat would have kept things interesting. (although if I had to guess, MW might slowly rise a bit over time, we'll see)
@mattyb RT hasnโt updated so Iโm not gonna wager too much on an unscientific skim of Twitter (i cant really track it this morning) but yup the reactions I saw were brutal
