NO

This question resolves YES if I can find evidence that a product made by Solar Foods is purchasable by consumers before the end of 2023, and NO if that is not the case. (It doesn't have to be available to the American market, just available at all.)

This marketing copy describes a product offered in a limited capacity by the restaurant Fico in Singapore: https://solarfoods.com/ice-cream-will-never-be-the-same-again-worlds-first-solein-gelato-now-available-to-consumers-in-singapore/

As best I can tell, the promotion described is still ongoing (https://www.ficomasseria.com/cuisine, scroll down), so I can't really say this isn't a consumer product...

...is what I was in the middle of writing, when I scrolled up and reread my own resolution criteria, where I specify:

This question resolves YES if I can find evidence that a product made by Solar Foods is purchasable by consumers before the end of 2023

This is already resolving on something of a knife's edge, and I am mildly irritated by this barely-extant publicity stunt resolving my market YES when in spirit it really ought to resolve NO, so I am going to take advantage of this technicality of wording and resolve NO, as "cycle 15 km in a nearby park and then show us your phone or something" is not the traditional method through which business transactions are undertaken.

(Sorry for the double resolution, btw.)

bought Ṁ30 of YES

@journcy this is the same thing discussed below, up to you to decide whether it counts or not:

https://solarfoods.com/media/qa/

Solein has already been available for purchase for ordinary consumers: the Singaporean restaurant Fico sold a Solein Chocolate Gelato for a limited period, from 15th of June to end of October 2023. As we are currently producing Solein continuously on a small scale, this was a very limited edition. In 2024, Solar Foods’ Factory 01 will increase Solein production capacity and bringing Solein to market in other food products starts to get closer.

It was available for purchase "by ordinary consumers", but didn't last very long.

@NicoDelon I didn't inspect this too deeply, but this doesn't seem like a purchasable product, more like a one time event.

predicted NO

@journcy My impression too but I realized after betting NO that I may have been too confident it wouldn't count.

https://solarfoods.com/solar-foods-granted-eur-15m-financing-from-danske-bank-growth/ they're planning on having their first factory up and running in 2023 and to "move to the commercialization of Solein".
