I’m guessing there will be a clear consensus by EOY 2025 on what this is called. If there is not, I will make a good faith judgement call on Jan 1, 2026, informed by Google Trends, Miriam-Webster, and whatever other relevant tools are available. I will not bet on this market, to remain neutral.

Do you mean people opposed to currently existing AIs due to their effects on jobs etc. or people opposed to developing ASIs due to existential risks? Plenty of people are the latter but not the former (e.g. Zvi Mowshowitz, myself, ...)

"Luddite" has multiple senses; your title is not sufficient

For an appropriate analogy, we'd have to incorporate the Luddites' stance on worker protections - they were essentially a protest movement (not just "anti-" technological progress).

Would you consider this the same as "doomer"? just wondering if it needs a separate entry or if you'll resolve them as the same.

@shankypanky I’d resolve them the same.

"Yuddite"

😅😅😅

Doomers and Safetyests are basically all technolibertarians about every technology other than AI, and like half of them are actively building AGI, so if that ends up being the term, yall are idiots.

@makoyass The people campaigning against AI art seem like a better candidate. Not sure what they're called. (ftr I think their concerns are reasonable today, but predictably wont be 5 years from now when genuinely useful AI art tooling is a thing, and their campaign to slow that down is all dvesha)

I don't think we are idiots

lol. According to the DALLE(?) generated image at the top, good candidates include: udtedes, mndite, Ldd, AIE, and IAI.
