this will be yes as long as either of them exist their positions as CEO (fired or "mutual departure"
I've flagged this market as "incorrectly resolved" by clicking the little flag in the top right corner of the market, and I'd encourage all other traders to do the same. If enough people do that, the creator will have a "untrustworthy" warning display next to their name, which will make it harder for them to scam more people in the future.
@jojothebanker This certainly looks like platform abuse, I've flagged the result. Why is this resolved?
Looks like the Community Guidelines say that market creators are totally allowed to scam market participants this way. I don't like it a bit, but it is a comparatively cheap lesson about counterparty risk compared to everyone affected by the whole FTX thing right now (or any number of less salient examples involving real money).
@catfromdevnull Laws and rules will often distinguish between accidents and scams though. For example, in the classic car insurance scams, the person who causes the rear end collision is always at fault, even if the driver in front of them stopped suddenly. But this is negated if it can be proven that they stopped with the intention of being hit for a scam.
I hope the mods will resolve it according to that logic, but this is actually my second time having a market erroneously resolved. In the first case, they did nothing, even though the owner admitted his mistake (that one was an accident) but they never did anything.
@PhillipConstantine Unfortunately, we don't have the systems in place to easily correct the resolution. It's something we will add soonish for accidents (and at that point will evaluate what we want our community guidelines to rule regarding intentional scams).
Haven't really prioritised it as it has only recently started occurring more often (and still at a very infrequent rate). Sorry you've somehow ended up betting on 2 of the markets it has occurred with lately. I think it's happened in only 3-4 markets in the past month.
@DavidChee Haha guess I'm cursed. The way to handle this for now is probably just to not put much money into markets run by small accounts that haven't built a solid reputation yet.
Glad to hear this is being looked into. Manifold is already a great platform, and I look forward to what it will become in the future. Keep it up!
