Resolves YES if by August 31, the US has announced forgiveness of at least $5k of student debt for a broad group of borrowers (e.g. all borrowers earning less than $50k per year in income) by end of August. Otherwise NO.

According to https://www.cnn.com/2022/08/22/politics/student-loan-white-house/index.html, the White House is currently leaning towards cancellation of up to $10k in student debt for borrowers with up to $125,000 per year of income.

Student loan repayments are currently paused until August 31, but previous pause dates have been extended several times.

Resolves YES - loan forgiveness of $10k for borrowers with income under $125k was announced: https://www.cnn.com/2022/08/24/politics/student-loans-joe-biden-white-house/index.html

President Joe Biden on Wednesday announced historic new steps to address student loan debt, which includes forgiving up to $20,000 for millions of borrowers and extending the payment freeze one final time until the end of the year.

Oh, to clarify the wording:

> Resolves YES if by August 31, the US has announced forgiveness of at least $5k of student debt for a broad group of borrowers (e.g. all borrowers earning less than $50k per year in income) by end of August.

Is the "August 31" / "end of August" a duplication, or does the second refer to the content of the announcement?

That is, suppose that during August, the US announces broad forgiveness of $5k of debt, and that forgiveness will be applied in September. Does this resolve yes?

@PhilipHazelden (Or if the US announces broad forgiveness, but doesn't specify when the forgiveness will be applied.)

@PhilipHazelden That was just a duplication by mistake, doesn't change the meaning.
