Would you pay $25/month for a manifold subscription that gives you certain features?
Yes
No
Maybe, but I want more features than what you've listed below (give examples)

Examples of things you might get:

  • loans are gated behind the subscription

  • a nice supporter badge

  • 1k mana/month

  • your markets have higher visibility

Instead of this, just be honest about how much money you need to keep it online and make a big thermometer for people to fill with donations

Y'all don't get it — question is actually brilliant. Instead of a poll asking how much people will pay (where everyone picks the lowest option), everyone's saying no and then offering up how much they would pay. 5d chess

@Marnix Cunningham's Law

@JussiVilleHeiskanen i actually forgot the name so i just described it badly to get it. Thanks cunningham

@Marnix Fun fact. At a buffett I sat opposite Ward Cunningham without knowing who he was, with my salad.

@Marnix Price discovery.

TV gif. Think about it guy, Kayode Ewumi points to his temple mischievously and looks into the camera. He's practically begging us to think about it.

@JussiVilleHeiskanen I usually call it Cumberbatch's Law for some Meta-Cunningham-ing…

Not for $25 per month. I'm pretty sure we don't want to buy mana straight into our accounts. It seems more fun to earn it through markets.

I don't think I'd spend more than $8 per month for a subscription, and that is the extreme upper limit I have in my mind.

A discount for creating markets may be something I'd pay for.

I might be willing to pay for profile cosmetics (or even market page cosmetics) for the right price.

An educational guide on how to make a trading bot might be fun too.

Ian when you ask questions it honestly makes me worried sometimes that Manifold top brass is clueless or out of touch or something.

$25 a month? for this?

for $25 a month, it's amost always a no. But even if i would pay for it, it wouldnt't be for 'More features', it would be for entirely different ones. I would not support loans being locked only behind a subscription, and I don't even like 'free' mana a month or the higher visibility markets. Although I think all 3 of these ideas are not on equal level in terms of BAD.

Just give me silly wing dings and cosmetics!

Let me upload personal emotes and react to comments or markets, just like I do on discord. let me use a gif profile image (maybe we can do this already I never tried), add a banner to my profile page, add color to my comment text or shit like that. Let me make a CUSTOM monthly league (invite only or something, for example 'profits scores for this league only count from markets with the 'entertainment and pop culture tag' or 'profit scores for this league can only come from bets made below the 50% line on YES or above the 50% like on NO') etc etc etc. silly shit that enhances the fun of the site without detracting or cutting from what others already have and benefit from!

This all seems obvious to me and many other people!

@No_uh Big agree!

$25 a month is too much, and I'm not crazy about extra mana and stuff.

However, I would absolutely pay $8 for a badge and custom emojis and garish formatting on my comments and markets. Silly, pointless things and cosmetics!

Custom leagues sound great too.

@No_uh for the record i would rather give you $5 a month right now for no reason whatsoever than $5 for mana monthly. just to support manifold.

Could you start by trying a more cosmetic subscription to help finance Manifold before doing p2p/p2w?

I’d stop using Manifold if you introduce a pay-to-play model. Particularly one that boosts the markets of anyone willing to pay.

That type of distortion disincentivizes the creation of thoughtful, intelligent markets I already have to search pretty hard for and increases the sorts of incivilities and “look at me” behaviors that degrade the whole value proposition of Manifold, which is that it produces quality predictive markets based on volume trading that can be used to bridge uncertainties.

Also I could buy 1K mana now for $10 so the same for $25 is a weird offer.

I also don't understand the talk behind loans. You only get 1.5% of your investment + your investment value is reduced. Why not allow users to loan say 25% of their net worth that will be paid back by a certain date by deducting from their balance. Much better that way.

I would consider a subscription but $25 is too high of a price to pay.

@10thOfficial thats my goat right there

If loans were taken away from free, I might stop playing, I certainly wouldn't pay to get them back

I would maybe pay if it was 5$, but 25$ is way to much and locking loans behind a paywall would probably make me stop using Manifold entirely.

„Examples of things you might get:“ Goes ahead and mentions a feature that already exists and will be taken from anyone who doesn’t pay up…

You should also consider a Purchasing Power Parity Discount. It wouldn't impact me, but might help others who have commented.

@4fa suddenly everyone's IP is from Brazil

It's probably worth about $3-4 to me. I might go $5 if I absolutely had to but I'd resent it. $10 and you're on yer bike.

@Fion and as some others have said, I'm more of a fan of trivial "supporter" perks than pay to win functionality.

@Fion +1 about trivial supporter perks

@Fion same, I just don't want to buy mana because I haven't bought mana yet, so I want all my mana to be legit

@spiderduckpig Yeah, I think Manifold staff underestimates how "wrong" buying mana feels, which is very counterproductive for them. Up until recently I disclosed in my bio when I bought mana because it feels like something that should be disclosed. I only just removed it because 5000 mana isn't a ton for me anymore

@Robincvgr thats part of why i was trying to GET RID of all the mana i bought! (but nobody is even taking me up on my offer! https://manifold.markets/No_uh/double-your-mana-thank-you-to-manif?r=Tm9fdWg
