Resolves yes if the church commonly referred to as the Catholic Church or the Roman Catholic Church in common speech begins to be referred as some variation of Synodal Church (specifically referencing synodality in the name) by everyday speakers before Christmas Eve 3031. If this clearly happens before that date, I will resolve early, as it happens. I may refer to Google fight type sources or other authorities on frequency of use of terms. As this requires some non objective judgement on my part, I will obviously not trade on this market.

Why would they do that? What's this in reference to?

@ChurlishGambit Francis's reforms

@JussiVilleHeiskanen The previous pope? What reforms did he make that would suggest they'd rename the Church?

I don't want to steer the market

@JussiVilleHeiskanen It's not "steering the market" so much as "making sure people know what you're talking about"

@ChurlishGambit I feel anything I might add would seep some of my own biases into it. Even choosing links makes me uneasy on such a sensitive topic. Feel free not to trade.

@JussiVilleHeiskanen As a Catholic, this isn't a sensitive topic, so much as a totally bafflling market

@ChurlishGambit oh. I thought you were arguing in good faith. My mistake. As a Catholic you clearly would know what synodality is.

@JussiVilleHeiskanen I know what synodality is. I do not know why you're imagining the Church would change its name to "The Synodal Church."

@ChurlishGambit betting to one percent is a thing.

@ChurlishGambit if you are asking what inspired this market, it was a claim by a person that they we weren't rejecting the catholic church but the synodal church.

@JussiVilleHeiskanen That's what I've been asking this entire time

@ChurlishGambit if you read the description it doesn't strictly imply action by the church, which was the assumption of your initial question. The title might imply it, but not closely read, require it. Do suggest actionable clarifications.

@JussiVilleHeiskanen "Catholic Church change it's publicly known name" is not an implication. It explicitly states that the Church will change its name.

@ChurlishGambit Catholic Church is not the formal name, and agency is not explicitly assigned. The church changing it's name, whether formal or informal is the most that can be adduced.

@ChurlishGambit I am happy to argue this to the ends of the earth, but unless you care to bet, I suggest you are wasting your own time
