Resolution criteria

Phase 2 (Section 2) of the LA Metro D Line extension has a target opening date of Spring 2027 as of January 2026. Resolution will be based on the first day of public service (free or paid) at any of the Phase 2 stations: Beverly Drive or Century City.

Verification source: LA Metro official project page and official Metro announcements.

Background

Phase 2 will add two new stations at Beverly Drive and Century City, extending the D Line westward from the planned Phase 1 terminus at Wilshire/La Cienega. Once operational, the entire extension is expected to serve roughly 78,000 daily riders. Officials prefer to open all stations before the start of the 2028 Summer Olympics and Paralympic Games, which Los Angeles will host.

Considerations

  • Phase 1 (Winter 2026) must open before Phase 2 can begin revenue service.

  • There needs to be pre-revenue testing

  • People have hypothesized that phase 2 and 3 will open at the same time

  • Phase 3 is expected to open in Fall 2027 as of January 2026.
