The 2023-2024 English Premier League season is entering its final stages and the title race has narrowed down to two main contenders: Arsenal and Manchester City. With just a few games remaining, the results of their upcoming matches against Tottenham Hotspur could potentially decide the Premier League winner.

Current situation:

  • Gameweek 34

  • Arsenal lead the table with 77 points

  • Manchester City are third with 73 points, but have two games in hand. If they win both games, they will lead Arsenal by 2 points.

Both Arsenal and Manchester City are set to face Tottenham Hotspur at some point in their last four games of the season. Given Tottenham's strong squad and upset potential, their performances against Arsenal and City could significantly impact the final standings.

Resolution Criteria:
This question resolves as "Yes" if Tottenham Hotspur's result (win, loss, or draw) against either Arsenal or Manchester City directly determines the Premier League winner. This means that had the result of this specific match been different, the title would have gone to the other team, assuming all other results remain the same.

The question resolves as "No" if the above condition is not met, and the Premier League title is decided by factors other than Tottenham's direct influence on either of the two title contenders' results in their head-to-head matches e.g they lose or draw both games.

Is this the same as asking whether the difference will be greater than 3 points?
I guess not if both teams draw, then you can only play around with -1/+2 for either team.
I'm guessing you can only change the results in one of the matches, not both?

@HenriThunberg now that Arsenal have beaten Tottenham, the only way for Tottenham to play a decisive role is getting a result vs. City. Otherwise their net effect on the title race will be zero

@diadematus Hmm right guess I understand it now (you mean, whatever the points were in the Arsenal game, would be compared with the City game, right?), but it's definitely not the most clear market format :))
