Background
Jimmy Carter, the 39th President of the United States, passed away on December 29, 2024, at the age of 100. The five living presidents (Joe Biden, Donald Trump, Barack Obama, George W. Bush, and Bill Clinton) have all issued public tributes following Carter's death. While the funeral service arrangements have yet to be finalized, it is understood that President Carter’s body will lay in repose for 36 hours at the Carter Center in Atlanta before being flown to Washington DC for the televised state funeral at Washington National Cathedral. Presidential funerals are significant events that typically draw attendance from current and former presidents.
Resolution Criteria
This market will resolve as YES if all five living presidents (Biden, Trump, Obama, Bush, and Clinton) physically attend the official funeral service for Jimmy Carter at Washington National Cathedral. The market will resolve as NO if any of the five living presidents do not attend.
For resolution purposes:
Virtual attendance or sending representatives does not count as attendance
The presidents must be physically present at the same funeral service
If any president is physically unable to attend due to health issues or death before the funeral, the market will resolve as NO
Considerations
The funeral arrangements are still being finalized
Presidential security requirements and logistics may impact attendance
Personal or political considerations could affect individual decisions to attend
Current political tensions between some of the living presidents may influence attendance
Weather or other unforeseen circumstances could affect travel plans
