The Global Terrorism Index (GTI) analyzes terrorism across the world and releases a report on the previous year in March or November. In the most recent year’s report, the United States came in as the 30th country most affected by terrorism. Nonetheless, the GTI score for the United States declined in 2022 compared to 2021.
From the 2022 report: “The GTI is comprised of four measures namely the number of attacks, the number of deaths, people wounded and hostages taken. The index uses a five-year weighting system to determine the level of impact for any given year. The weighting system accounts for the lingering effect of terrorism…”
