The US government provides yearly reports of drug usage based on surveys. For example, the results of the 2022 survey are here, where the government reported that 61.9 million people have used marijuana at least once in 2022, up from 53.1 million in 2021. Other survey data can be found from this link.

The question they used for the survey is “Have you ever, even once, used marijuana or any cannabis product?” and “How long has it been since you last used marijuana or any cannabis product?”

@YewNevano 👀 Does the US really have that many people who tried marijuana? Do I need bigger buckets? What's your guess?

@bohaska Maybe I am biased but pretty much everyone in Cali has tried a bit. I would assume it’s over 79m cause there are lots of smokers around the us

@bohaska There are 221 million people who have marijuana available - this includes medical marijuana. But just medical marijuana users alone there are around 80m not including all the people who actually smoke either for fun or for non treated medical issues. There are also a lot more commercial dispenseries
