Context:

Bitcoin blocks have a difficulty that adjusts every 2016 blocks. The halving is scheduled to take place once block 840,000 is mined. The difficulty is adjusted to keep the average time between blocks approximately 10 minutes.

Market resolution:

This is an independent binary market.

Each answer resolves YES if the mining difficulty increases once that block is mined (relative to the previous block). Each answer resolves NO if the difficulty does not increase.

Answers resolve as early as possible (once that block is mined).

Bitcoin miners are rewarded by a mining subsidy and transaction fees. The imminent Bitcoin halving reduces the subsidy reward.

How will this change affect miners in the short term? Will this change affect miner behavior enough to cause mining to slow down and decrease in difficulty?
