Transport for London are currently consulting on their plans for an extension of the DLR's Beckton branch across the river to Thamesmead. This will enable housing development and transport links to the area, giving Thamesmead the rail link it has been missing since original construction in the 1960s.

The core elements of the plan are:

  • The Beckton branch will be extended with a new junction between Gallions Reach and Beckton DLR stations.

  • New stations will be created at Beckton Riverside and Thamesmead.

  • There will be a tunnel under the river between the Beckton Riverside and Thamesmead stations.

I will resolve this as YES if the plan (or an alternative plan that achieves the core elements of this plan) is substantially funded or construction begins.

I will resolve this as NO if the plan is dropped from TfL's transport strategy, central government funding is permanently denied or when there is other conclusive evidence that the project will not go ahead.
