For example, the "Domestic Opening" for "Mad Max: Fury Road" was $45,428,128. This is the equivalent number I will use.

it's very bleak. the theatrical business is in very rough shape. people are trying way too hard to find tidy causal reasons, when the default should be that most movies don't do very well in theaters these days and the rare exceptions are the ones worth studying (& don't assume you can copy it, often it's more idiosyncratic/random than that).
seeing Furiosa myself tmrw (had to wait for a friend), looking forward to it!
