Crazy day - 4 decisive games. And I think this was pretty fun. I will go sleep now and resolve the rest tomorrow. If nobody posts any evidence for the Hikaru and Nepo making faces options I will resolve them to NO.

@Weezing there was a lot of good faces throughout, but the series he whipped out after 42...Kg8 and 43...Nd4 pushed me over the edge.

@Sindre even more

I guess this could still happen, but maybe the spirit of the question was "before move 40"?

bought Ṁ10 Answer #feb7af2ea24e YES

@Sindre Yea, I was too hasty, because when I made the question it was about firouzja time pressure before move 40, but I didn't word it precisely. Either way it is very unlikely he flags now.

@Weezing I agree. Also no YES shares, so no one missed opportunities to sell their position or anything.

Abasov blundered on move 34

bought Ṁ5 Answer #d5b5c1500573 NO

It would be so funny if only Abasov drew his game.

Man, Pragg's got some cajones.

crazy prep by Pragg

@Weezing also just so gutsy. Sacrificing and daring Gukesh to play perfect in the face of no time spent is bonkers.

@Sindre Yea, it is good strat in this tournament with shorter time control.

@Weezing is it shorter than normal? I thought it was mainly that you get your 2 hours at the start in stead of partly through increments.

@Sindre yea that is the same, but you only get 30 minutes after move 40, but Candidates 2022 you got 75. I guess it's not huge difference but it plays some role.

@Weezing ah, you're right. Seems good to put a bit more pressure on the long end games, but keeping the opening and middle games flexible.

if they're fianchettoed at some point then go on a detour it still counts

Someone does not castle before move 20
bought Ṁ75 Someone does not cas... NO

i assume this only applies where the player still has the right to castle by move 20 but doesn't take it? As opposed to they didn't castle because they lost the right to castle

@diadematus No, what matters is if they play castle before move 20 or not. So if they move the king and therefore cannot castle anymore that still counts as not castling.

bought Ṁ100 Someone does not cas... NO

@Weezing ah, gotcha

Nepo will make a grimace in response to his opponent's move
Hikaru will go to some other board, look at it and make his surprised Pikachu face
