A New York Times investigation has uncovered a doping scandal involving 23 Chinese swimmers who tested positive for a banned drug seven months before the Tokyo Olympics but were subsequently cleared to compete.
Of the 23 swimmers who tested positive, 13 competed in the Olympics, and four won medals.
Resolution Criteria
This question will resolve as Yes if, at the conclusion of the next Summer Olympics, China's total medal count in swimming is five or fewer, as compared with the six won in the 2020 Tokyo Summer Olympics. Artistic Swimming is not included. Relay medals are counted as 1 medal.
Resolving per the medal count at https://olympics.com/en/paris-2024/medals, 7 medals for China, currently. Presumably they won't strip any of China's medals before the conclusion of the Olympics.
