For the purposes of this market, if Tumbles only needs to sleep 3 hours or less in order to be fully functional and awake during the day, then that qualifies as 'no longer needing sleep'. This would presumably require some sort of scientific/technological breakthrough.

Resolution Criteria:

Multiple answers can resolve YES.

This question asks whether sleep will be solved specifically for Tumbles. So for example, if Tumbles dies in 2030 and the cure for sleep is invented in 2035, then "Before 2042" resolves NO. Also, if science has cured sleep but Tumbles can't afford the cure, that's not good enough for resolution, Tumbles must personally have access.

If Tumbles has access to a cure for sleep, but for some reason chooses not to use it, resolution depends on the PRIMARY reason why Tumbles is choosing not to take advantage of it. If the PRIMARY reason Tumbles still must sleep is that he has decided he likes sleep, then resolves YES anyways. If the PRIMARY reason Tumbles still sleeps is that the cure is unaffordable or because he is concerned about side effects, then resolves NO.

I would jump at the opportunity to pharmaceutically 'solve' sleep, even if there was uncertainty about long term side effects.

Tumbles currently needs to sleep about 8 hours in order to be fully functional (but often doesn't).
