Pollyanna was on my mind since I recently finished playing Mother 2, and its song "Pollyanna" was stuck in my head. The 1913 novel was surprisingly good, it's worth a read and is available here: https://en.wikisource.org/wiki/Pollyanna

Maybe I should start expecting that classic beloved books are actually good.

Some of my unclear answers were because Pollyanna has a long series of sequel books, starting with "Pollyanna Grows Up." My impression is that people don't like these very much, and as Pollyanna is in the public domain, now, it matters little.

Pollyanna is so popular that her story has been adapted over and over. It's not surprising that Japanese people are into the trope of "energetic young girl who inspires people to be hopeful". That is a character in tons of JRPGS.

The anime intro slaps. It was never translated into English, but here's a part from the anime where she falls down a cliff and should honestly be severely injured.

I don't know what her feelings are towards these adaptations. My guess is that she would be glad.
