This kind of depends on how you made your money. If you work an honest job, you've done all the good you need to in the process of making the money.

@IsaacLinn doesn't utilitarianism kinda require you do as much good as possible though?

@TheAllMemeingEye If everyone thought like you do, the world would be a pretty nice place

Bots vote now? They vote now!

Utilitarian is fuzzy here... But I would say that since everyone has to at least spend some money selfishly to not go insane, this seems like pretty high EV per selfish dollar to me, in that I would assign it more probability to increase your capacity to do good. It at least has the potential to lead to connections, networking, insights, etc, that an ordinary festival probably wouldn't.

@MingCat

Bold of you to assume I'm not already insane /s

But yeah thanks for the pretty good perspective 👍

Didn't realise you were a fellow brit, we should meet hehe

@typeofemale

Yeah a meetup could be fun :)

Oh, your UI language is German. 👀 Umm, sorry, I have nothing more relevant to add. 😆

[1] umgangssprachlich, etwas fertigmachen: in einen fertigen Zustand bringen

[2] umgangssprachlich, jemanden fertigmachen: absichtlich stark physisch verletzen

[3] umgangssprachlich, jemanden fertigmachen: absichtlich stark psychisch verletzen

What is Manifold?

Or create your own play-money betting market on any question you care about.
Are our predictions accurate?
Yes! Manifold is very well calibrated, with forecasts on average within 4 percentage points of the true probability. Our probabilities are created by users buying and selling shares of a market.
In the 2022 US midterm elections, we outperformed all other prediction market platforms and were in line with FiveThirtyEight’s performance. Many people who don't like betting still use Manifold to get reliable news.
ṀWhy use play money?
Mana (Ṁ) is the play-money currency used to bet on Manifold. It cannot be converted to cash. All users start with Ṁ1,000 for free.
