8 pieces is roughly 20 petabytes (20k TB) compared to 7 piece which is ~20 TB.

realistically this would be completely impractical to store on local devices... there's no point.

this would require hundreds of terabytes or even petabyte level ram and given that gpu prices are rising so much that a literal 16GB gpu costs $200 i don't expect petabyte level ram to drop in cost that much by 2028

for reference if you use the 16GB ~= $200 figure, you get millions of dollars in ram that could be used better elsewhere
