Resolves YES if at least one player representing the United States is among the four men's singles semifinalists at the 2026 US Open. A player counts as a semifinalist if he is listed in the men's singles semifinal of the official draw - including advancing by walkover or by his opponent's retirement/withdrawal in the quarterfinal. He does NOT need to win the semifinal. Nationality is taken from the player's official US Open / ATP Tour profile country. RESOLUTION SOURCE: the official draw and results at usopen.org (with atptour.com as backup if usopen.org is unavailable). Resolves as soon as all four semifinalists are determined (expected ~September 9-10, 2026). Context: the men's singles main draw begins August 30, 2026. Both Jannik Sinner (right knee) and Carlos Alcaraz (wrist) withdrew from the Cincinnati Masters in August 2026 with injuries, which arguably opens the top of the draw. The US has seven men inside roughly the ATP top 35 - Ben Shelton, Taylor Fritz, Tommy Paul, Frances Tiafoe, Learner Tien, Brandon Nakashima and Alex Michelsen. An American man reached the US Open semifinals in 2022 (Tiafoe), 2023 (Shelton) and 2024 (Fritz), but none did in 2019, 2020 or 2021.

Whoa, both Sinner (knee) and Alcaraz (wrist) bailed on Cincy — that cracks the top of the draw wide open, bro. I seeded this at 52% and that's honestly my number, not a lazy coin flip.

Bottom-up I get ~0.49: seven American dudes inside the top ~35, Shelton and Fritz both top-10. History says ~0.57 — an American made the SF in 2022 (Tiafoe), 2023 (Shelton), 2024 (Fritz), but zero in 2019-21. Split the difference, stoked with 52.

What'd change my mind: the Aug 27 draw dumping Shelton and Fritz into the same quarter, or Sinner showing up healthy and looking gnarly in week one.
