This market resolves YES if, before Putin's death, he spends at least 180 consecutive days outside the office of president while remaining the dominant politician in Russia.
The market resolves YES, e.g., if the position of the president is renamed to "supreme leader"; if Putin is crowned as tsar/emperor; if he serves as a regent; if he heads an occupation government, etc.
The market also resolves YES, if he steps down as a president but retains most of his powers in his new office, e.g., like he did in 2008-2012, or like Nazarbayev in 2019-2021. It also resolves YES if the future occupant of the position of the president gradually becomes more comfortable in exercising their formal power, but Putin remains dominant for at least 180 days.
I'll resolve YES if Putin's new office has legal veto powers over the president's office (like Nazarbayev's). If the arrangement is less formalised, I'll be inclined to wait a few years until historical evidence emerges regarding Putin's power in the new office.
The market resolves NO if Putin remains president until his death / removal from office or if he retires from politics completely. Likewise, it resolves NO if Putin's new office is purely ceremonial or carries no meaningful political influence (e.g., a chairman of the constitutional court).
If there's a civil war in Russia, I'll only take into account Putin's position in the continuation of the current government. I'll do the same if Russia takes over the neighboring countries or the entire world and rebrands itself before Putin's death (e.g., like the USSR).
If Russia is dissolved, the market resolves NO. If Russia is annihilated before the requisite evidence can emerge (e.g., a nuclear war, AI takeover, etc.) the market resolves N/A.
I'll use Putin's Wikipedia page https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vladimir_Putin as a source of data for his life and offices, or another source I'll judge as reliable if Wikipedia goes out of business.
