What is your motivation for (potentially) changing from your current name?

@LarsOsborne My current name has a really nice sound, but it came from a place of ironic self hate, so I'd like a name I like the meaning, purpose, sound, and mouth feel of.

@Soaffine "σοφία" carries much more meaning and purpose than your alternatives.

@MaxA We could put a market up for that if you want, but to me personally I'm not so sure! The meaning behind 'Sofia' for me is unlikely to be your interpretation of "σοφία".

If you think that it's more meaningful, however, you could wager I'll keep my name!

@Soaffine Your market is subjective, so betting based on objective criteria is not productive. But if we look at this objectively, Sofia is one of the most meaningful names among all the names used today in the West, given its Ancient Greek origin, very clear and deep idea denoted by the word, the wide use of the name throughout the ages in various post-Greek cultures and religions, and no spelling or pronunciation evolution over that time (well, that pesky "f" vs "ph" but I hope you'll forgive me that). While of the names you listed as specific choices, three are new agey plant names - I can't understand how one of them could have more meaning or purpose than "wisdom".

"Sound and mouth feel", otoh, are totally valid preferences that no one could argue against because those preferences are fully your own.

(Tbh, a large part of the reason I commented is that you're not the first Sofia dissatisfied with her given name that I know. Wonder if it's just too heavy a burden for kids to carry.)

@MaxA good insight! You should bet
