FromSoftware is known for unconventional marketing and development practices across every facet of its business model. Could they release Shadow of the Erdtree as a standalone sequel to their groundbreaking game Elden Ring, or is this simply a DLC so large that it's taking longer than most other DLCs across all other studios?

The trailer came out and www.eldenring.com clearly says "ELDEN RING, winner of hundreds of accolades including The Game Awards’ “Game of the Year” and Golden Joystick Awards’ “Ultimate Game of the Year,” is bringing a new adventure to the Tarnished in the Lands Between. ELDEN RING Shadow of the Erdtree DLC is FromSoftware’s largest expansion to date"
