DLCs / expansions rarely take this long to debut, and fans are getting precious little information about the content of the game (aside from that extraordinarily high-resolution image which debuted February 28, 2023).
FromSoftware is known for unconventional marketing and development practices across every facet of its business model. Could they release Shadow of the Erdtree as a standalone sequel to their groundbreaking game Elden Ring, or is this simply a DLC so large that it's taking longer than most other DLCs across all other studios?

@pietrokc there's the manifold discord https://discord.gg/aCwF5RZKkD where you can go to the #mod-help channel and link this market and briefly explain what should happen to it and some mod will look at it and determine the course of action ig
This can resolve "Will be marketed as Elden Ring DLC" now. The trailer came out and www.eldenring.com clearly says "ELDEN RING, winner of hundreds of accolades including The Game Awards’ “Game of the Year” and Golden Joystick Awards’ “Ultimate Game of the Year,” is bringing a new adventure to the Tarnished in the Lands Between. ELDEN RING Shadow of the Erdtree DLC is FromSoftware’s largest expansion to date"
My friends, literally the pinned tweet at twitter.com/ELDENRING says "An upcoming expansion for #ELDENRING Shadow of the Erdtree, is currently in development."
