The idea: if you add your credit card you can opt in to autoload, which will automatically refill your balance if you go below zero

(I won't trade on this)
pros: enables advanced features that require margin and derisks existing loans
cons: my gf will full communist

As long as it's opt-in, I think this is better than a subscription method and makes a lot of sense. As someone who has paid for Mana a few times, it would honestly be nice to have the option for it to happen automatically.
The autoload doesn't 'feel' like you're paying for anything, since it only kicks in if you go below a certain balance. So the stress of not wanting to make a purchase in the moment isn't as substantial. Might make sense to provide a one-time benefit for signing up for autoload, like $500 mana or something.
Agreed that loans are somewhat confusing for new users and might be better behind the autoload. Maybe same thing with other advanced features, like limit orders and non-binary markets. Helps keep things simple for early users and provide incentive to get signed up for AutoLoad.
We discussed this a bit more in standup today. Some thoughts:
Austin: threshold at which you reload should be higher than Ṁ0. maybe Ṁ100
I want loans to feel less random and be more user-controlled. Perhaps gated behind the auto reload. Current weekly loans are confusing to new users anyways.
We were originally thinking of gating loans behind a subscription, but gating it behind having a card on file makes more mechanical sense
If we keep current weekly loans + auto reload, I think we should make weekly loans opt-in
Ian: it would be cool to be able to put super big limit orders, knowing that your credit card will keep you solvent
I actually think this is a feature that whales and power users want
Curious what people think. I definitely want this to be useful and not feel like a cash grab.
@Sinclair Sharing my thoughts as a f2p-inclined aspiring power user:
I likely wouldn't go for auto reload by itself
I might go for it if loans were gated behind, since I find loans a super useful feature
