Following his historic, humiliating defeat in the 2024 General Election (the Tories fell to their lowest seat share for over a century), Rishi Sunak has announced that he will step down as leader of the party.

There has been speculation as to whether the party will hold a quick election for his successor and whether Sunak will continue as leader if there is a long selection process.

When will he be replaced as Conservative Party leader, either by the newly elected leader of the party or by an interim/caretaker leader?
