The 2026 United States Senate election in Alaska will be held on November 3, 2026. This market resolves YES if Mary Peltola officially files as a candidate for U.S. Senate in Alaska by the filing deadline (June 2026). Resolution will be verified through official Alaska Division of Elections records or FEC filings. This market resolves NO if she does not file for Senate, regardless of whether she runs for governor or another office.
Peltola is not a declared candidate for any race in 2026, although she has been frequently mentioned as a leading Democratic contender for both Senate and governor. Peltola was a member of the U.S. House, representing Alaska's At-Large Congressional District, assuming office on September 13, 2022 and leaving office on January 3, 2025. She is currently senior director of Alaska affairs for the law firm Holland & Hart LLP.
Peltola opened her speech at the Alaska Federation of Natives convention with what she called an "anticlimactic" note by saying there were "no big announcements, no big declarations" about a possible candidacy. There is mounting pressure from people in state for her to declare for governor and mounting pressure from people out of state for her to declare for U.S. senator. According to federal records filed prior to her defeat against Begich, she remains a candidate for the 2026 race, but she has not publicly announced a bid and has also kept open the possibility of a run for governor.
