Resolution criteria

This market will resolve to YES if, at any point before the polls close in Michigan for the U.S. midterm general election (8:00 PM EST on November 3, 2026), Dr. Abdul El-Sayed or his official campaign issues an explicit public statement that condemns, disavows, or formally distances his campaign from Twitch streamer Hasan Piker.

For a YES resolution, the statement must meet the following criteria:

  • Must be before the polls close in Michigan for the U.S. midterm general election (8:00 PM EST on November 3, 2026)

  • Must be published by a credible news organization, via an official campaign press release, or through El-Sayed’s official verified social media channels.

  • Must feature El-Sayed (or his campaign) explicitly condemning, or disavowing Piker, or explicitly stating regret or an apology for holding joint campaign events with him.

@b4dweather This doesn't explicitly condemn or disavow Piker, or explicitly state regret or an apology for holding joint campaign events with him.

@xjp He's basically saying nobody speaks for him and stop focusing on what other people say. But he seems to deliberately avoid making a judgment on what Piker said.

The last sentence of the description is a bit confusing. It mentions disavowing Piker's comments which is much different and a weaker standard than condemning/disavowing/distancing from Piker himself. If he says something like "I condemn what he said about 9/11" but doesn't disavow or distance himself generally, does that count as a YES?

@xjp I'm going to keep within the bounds of condemnation, disavowal and distancing. I'll clarify the resolution to reflect that
