Background

This will be Bangladesh's first tour to Australia in 18 years. The series will mark the first winter Tests in Australia since 2004. The tour was initially scheduled for March 2027 but was moved to August 2026 due to fixture congestion with the 150th Anniversary Test against England. The Test series will form part of the 2025–2027 ICC World Test Championship.

Considerations

If confirmed, it will mark the first Test cricket in the Northern Territory since July 2004 when Sri Lanka visited, while Mackay's Great Barrier Reef Arena will become Australia's 12th Test venue. The specific venues have not yet been officially confirmed, though Darwin and Mackay are the leading candidates.
