Background
This will be Australia's first bilateral Test series in South Africa since the infamous events of 2018. South Africa have won four of the last eight series between the teams, with one drawn series and three Australian wins. South Africa recently won the 2025 World Test Championship, while in their overall Test head-to-head record, Australia have won 54 matches to South Africa's 26, with 21 draws.
Considerations
The 2026 tour will feature some new faces in the Australian colours looking to overcome the demons of 2018. South African conditions are known to be challenging for touring teams, particularly with their pace-friendly pitches and variable weather patterns.
