Welcome to the Sonic IV megathread. Gotta go fast!
The question is simple: will the denoted character (- plus any qualifying conditions) appear onscreen during the original theatrical run of the fourth mainline film in the Sonic the Hedgehog series, currently set to release on March 19th, 2027? Trading will halt one week before this date, and the market will resolve shortly after when I get a chance to see the film myself. In the event of an official press release / announcement / screenshot / clip / interview confirming a yes resolve, some options may resolve early.
CONDITIONS FOR YES RESOLVE:
The specified character physically appears onscreen in any capacity, from being central to the plot, to a “blink and you’ll miss it” cameo.
A photograph or video of the character is shown (ex. Character is being interviewed on the news)
Official press release / announcement / screenshot / clip confirms the above (Ex. new footage of Wade Whipple appears in a trailer)
Returning characters need not be portrayed by the same actor
I will count a character being used as an alias as a yes, so long as the audience is clearly meant to believe in the deception. For example, if a character that looks like and introduces themselves as Cream the Rabbit later turns out to be an Eggman Robot in disguise, “Cream the Rabbit” is a yes. But if Tails tries to sneak into a nightclub with a fake ID labelled Vector the Crocodile, that is insufficient.
Post-credit scenes count
INSUFFICIENT CONDITIONS FOR YES RESOLVE:
The character is mentioned
The character is depicted, but only as a drawing, toy, sculpture, mascot costume, meme, etc. (Ex. “Chao” would have resolved No for Sonic 3, but “Chao Garden” would be a yes)
Qualifying conditions can be set after the character name. These qualifying conditions take precedence over contradicting yes/no resolve criteria. For example, if it is confirmed that Sonic the Hedgehog will be voiced by Tommy Wiseau, and Ben Schwartz is not credited as voicing Sonic, “Sonic the Hedgehog - voiced by Ben Schwartz” will resolve no.
Thanks for stopping by! And feel free to add any characters or criteria you’re interested in!
@CommanderKeen It’s open for anyone to add their picks, and I’d be happy to vote “no” on Sonichu showing up 🤣
