Will manifold allow traders to hold both YES and NO shares for the same market at the same time?

One of the few legitimate reason I can see to have an alt is to hold both YES and NO shares simultaneously in a given market. This should just be supported for all users, since it is trivial to do by using an alt.

Do loot boxes count? It appears to be possible, or was possible (or this was some weird bug)

@ShadowyZephyr Interesting. That does satisfy the letter of the market, but it's not what I had in mind.

I would want you to be able to buy and sell yes/no shares independently. And I should have agency over which kind of share I buy/sell.

This makes no sense to do on a non-meta market, right? It’s strictly better to have the current system where 1 YES share and 1 NO share cancel to form M$1.

@Conflux can be worthwhile due to loans. Eg, buy yes and no on the same market, sell the one that appreciates.

What would be the purpose of doing this? Why would I rather hold both shares instead of having them be instantly redeemed?

@JosephNoonan presumably the same reason you'd have an alt trade in a market you are already trading in.

@JosephNoonan I think loans mean you might actually prefer to own both shares in some cases.

@MartinRandall I don't see why. If my shares are instantly liquidated, I get the mana back immediately, but if I keep shares of both YES and NO, I only get them back at a rate of 2%/day.
