NO

Last year, energy shortages were an ongoing concern, however the milder winter prevented serious issues arising. Going into this winter the same concerns remain.

Resolves YES if any of the following actions occur between 1st December 2023 and 29th February 2024:

  • Power outages impacting 10K or more private homes in a single event lasting an hour or more. CLARIFICATION any outage must be reported in the news as specifically related to national capacity shortfall and not e.g. equipment failure or a regional issue.

  • Temporary shutdowns of energy-intensive industries at the request of either the government or the energy suppliers.

  • A formal "rolling blackout" policy enacted by government or by energy suppliers, where any number of private homes will be without power on a pre-determined schedule.

  • Resolve YES if any of the above are true for either electricity supply OR gas supply.

  • Also resolves YES if media reports of widespread off-grid shortages e.g. LPG or oil for home burners.

If you can think of any other obvious YES criteria let me know!
