Background

Jeff Landry took office as the 57th Governor of Louisiana in January 2024 after winning the October 2023 jungle primary outright with roughly 52% of the vote. He previously served as Louisiana Attorney General from 2016 to 2024 and as a U.S. Representative from 2011 to 2013.

Louisiana governors serve four-year terms. The next gubernatorial primary election is scheduled for October 9, 2027, with a general runoff election slated for November 20, 2027, if no candidate reaches a majority threshold. Under Louisiana's term limits, Landry is eligible to seek a second consecutive term in 2027.
