Resolution criteria

This market will resolve to the candidate who officially wins the South Carolina U.S. Senate Special Republican Primary Runoff election scheduled for August 25, 2026.

The market will be resolved based on the official election results certified and published by the South Carolina State Election Commission on scVOTES.gov. In the event of a recount or legal challenge, the market will remain open until the official results are finalized and certified by the commission.

If the election is canceled, postponed indefinitely, or if both candidates are disqualified, this market will resolve to N/A.

Background

Following the sudden passing of U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham in July 2026, South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster appointed the late senator's sister, Darline Graham, to serve out the immediate remainder of the term. A special election was called to determine the nominee for the subsequent full six-year Senate term.

Because no candidate secured over 50% of the vote in the ten-candidate special primary held on August 11, 2026, the race advanced to a runoff. The runoff on August 25, 2026, is a head-to-head contest between:

  • Darline Graham (Incumbent): The appointed interim senator who secured the top spot in the primary and holds the endorsement of Donald Trump.

  • Ralph Norman: A U.S. Representative for South Carolina's 5th Congressional District.

The winner of this runoff will secure the Republican nomination and face Democratic nominee Annie Andrews in the November 2026 general election.
