Resolution criteria

This market will resolve to the candidate who is officially certified as the winner of the 2026 Republican primary election for Governor of South Carolina by the South Carolina State Election Commission.

  • The primary is scheduled for June 9, 2026. If no candidate receives more than 50% of the vote, a runoff election will be held on June 23, 2026. In the event of a runoff, the market will resolve to the winner of that contest.

  • Official results can be found via the South Carolina State Election Commission website: https://scvotes.gov.

  • If any candidate listed is disqualified, withdraws, or otherwise does not participate in the primary, they will resolve to "No."

  • If a candidate not listed in this market wins the primary, the market will resolve to "Other" (if applicable) or N/A.

Background

Incumbent Republican Governor Henry McMaster is ineligible to seek re-election in 2026 due to South Carolina's constitutional limit of two consecutive terms. As a result, the 2026 race is an open-seat election. The winner of the Republican primary will advance to the general election on November 3, 2026.
