Resolution criteria
Resolve YES if Argonne National Laboratory’s “Light Duty Electric Drive Vehicles Monthly Sales Updates” page reports U.S. plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) sales for November 2025 greater than 20,380 units; resolve NO if the reported figure is ≤ 20,380. Source: https://www.anl.gov/esia/light-duty-electric-drive-vehicles-monthly-sales-updates. (anl.gov)
Use the PHEV subtotal for new U.S. light‑duty vehicles (cars and light trucks ≤10,000 lbs) shown in the November 2025 update. If Argonne issues a formal correction within 7 days of first posting the November 2025 numbers, use the corrected value; later revisions will not change resolution. (anl.gov)
Background
Argonne compiles monthly U.S. BEV and PHEV sales (PEVs) and publishes them on the page above; since October 2019 the underlying monthly E‑drive sales reference is Wards Auto. (anl.gov)
Recent scale: in June 2025 Argonne reported 19,716 PHEVs sold (of 113,433 total PEVs). In 2024, over 1.5M PEVs were sold, with BEVs accounting for ~80% and PEV market share at 9.9%. (anl.gov)
Considerations
Argonne’s counts are for new U.S. light‑duty PHEVs (≤10,000 lbs) and include cars and light trucks; they may revise monthly figures as new data arrive. (anl.gov)
Month‑to‑month sales can be volatile due to incentives, model availability, and year‑end promotional activity that often affects November/December. Traders should consider supply constraints and incentive timing when estimating November outcomes. (anl.gov)
