Resolution criteria
Resolves YES if, by 23:59 Beijing time on December 31, 2025, CATL (Contemporary Amperex Technology) is publicly reported or officially discloses that production has resumed at its Yichun, Jiangxi lithium operations (e.g., the Jianxiawo mine and/or affiliated lithium processing in Yichun)—i.e., ore extraction and/or lithium chemical production restarts. Partial or phased restart counts; a mere permit issuance without production does not. If operations restart and later halt, it still resolves YES. Otherwise NO.
Primary sources to check: CATL disclosures on CNINFO and Shenzhen Stock Exchange pages, and reputable wire coverage (e.g., Reuters/S&P Global) citing official statements or regulatory notices. (cninfo.com.cn)
Background
CATL suspended mining at its Yichun (Jianxiawo) lithium project after its mining license expired on August 9, 2025, stating it would seek renewal and resume “once approved.” (reuters.com)
Reports in September 2025 indicated production was expected to restart “soon,” though CATL had not yet officially confirmed timing. (reuters.com)
The Yichun asset is a major lithium mica resource; the halt moved lithium futures and related equities. (reuters.com)
Considerations
Evidence must indicate actual production resumption (mining and/or lithium chemical output) at CATL’s Yichun operations; unrelated CATL facilities don’t count. (reuters.com)
If only a license renewal is announced by 12/31/2025 Beijing time with no production restart, resolve NO. (channelnewsasia.com)
Use Beijing time for cutoff; credible confirmations include CNINFO filings and wires referencing official disclosures or regulator statements. (cninfo.com.cn)
