Tim Walz and J.D. Vance are currently scheduled to debate on October 1, in an event hosted by CBS. Join our watch party!

This market will resolve to YES if Tim Walz wins the first VP debate. This market will resolve to NO if JD Vance wins the first VP debate.

This market will resolve to 50-50 if the results are tied or if no VP debate occurs before November 4th. A tie would mean both candidates each have 50% (when rounded) of the poll votes.

This market will resolve according to the results of Ipsos first opinion poll over who won or performed better in the debate released after its conclusion. If Ipsos does not release a poll before October 5th then an average of polls rated 1.9 or higher on 538 will be used.

CBS said Vance won by 1%

CNN poll just said Vance won by 2%

During future debate prep Tim needs to put a dollar in a jar every time he says "look!".

As an undecided voter, personally felt Vance was better in that one

Walz wasn't bad either

@JaredAsh It was pretty close for me too. I think Walz did better on substance and Vance did better on style. I hope you don't mind me asking a related question, as I've not yet met an actual undecided voter. What are you looking for to make a decision?

@WilliamGunn I don't know honestly. I'm pretty split on the policies and issues represented by each party. Here's some thoughts

Immigration - Sure, a more secure border with immigration control is reasonable but making up supposedly malintent rumors about illegal immigrants won't help.

Climate change - Slightly lean democratic on this, an important real issue that requires addressing, but at the same time the economy and jobs are important and they should not be impacted in a significant sense by any policies surrounding climate change.

Abortion - This is tough. I think Vance and Walz hit the two sides on this. We want to offer women (especially in the cases of rape, incest, etc), this opportunity but we need to also offer and expand our resources to incentivize women to have families by offering them the support they need. We ideally need both.

Gun violence - I don't get this, I didn't see any points of contention here. Democrats strongly favor gun control, republicans somewhat favor gun control? I think background checks before buying guns would be common sense (but that's just my opinion)
