Resolved
NO

On the 15th of March, the government of Germany launched a tool that allows people who were enrolled at a German university on the 1st of December 2022 to apply for a one-time payment of 200€. This is supposed to help with the increased energy prices.

There are an estimated 3.5M students eligible for the payment. The process is quite complicated:

  • Get a code from your university

  • Create an account at id.bund.de

  • Use this account to connect at einmalzahlung200.de

  • Upgrade account security using either a digital ID card (you have to install 2 apps for this), a tax return, or a separate one-time code from your university.

  • Fill out a form

After 2½ days, according to einmalzahlung200.de, there are 792.464 applications.

This question resolves YES iff on April 15th, the website shows more than 2.5M students have successfully applied for this payment until 18:00 on April 14th

@RahulShah there's a slight chance that 400k people signed up yesterday, and the numbers haven't updated to the 18:00 version to include them.

This chance is small enough that I'm calling it now as NO.

3 days before closing, we're at 2.111.685 applications

1.7M applications as of today:
