> If you were a parent who disapproves of your adult child transitioning, what information would you want to know? I would definitely NOT be against my kids transitioning, but I would have questions about grandchildren and if that would still be possible.

I hate that you have to do that, or that you feel like you have to. Parents should be writing the affirming love letter to their Trans kids. Not the other way. I'm so happy you are living your truth.

I just saw your post that they don't know yet. Somehow I have a feeling this is all going to be ok for you. Thinking good thoughts

"what information would you want to know?" That sounds like a propose your options market. But I think it depends on the kind of parent. Do they claim to care about you being happy? Do they claim to care about you being prosperous? Do they worry about how to explain it to family & friends?

@XidaRen yes, yes, and yes. Also my safety. They seem to think it is possible to treat my depression "first", and are strongly against the idea that they can be tackled at the same time, or that I haven't been successful in treating my depression for years in part because of this

@XidaRen I was reluctant to make a multi choice market because I don't know how to phrase or resolve it, let alone if people would be interested

Multi choice markets are a great tools for this kind of question, a way to resolve this is "i will resolve to answers i feel insightful", probably by giving points Maybe the question could be "how should I approach my explaining of my transition to my parents"? or something along these lines

@LivInTheLookingGlass oo I may have a lead on that. I've seen articles floating around in the rat community that cite research saying, the hormones used in transitioning can correct chemical imbalances in the brain. If they think "it's just a chemical imbalances you don't need to change your gender" you might be able to respond with "but I'm not 'changing my gender' I'm just fixing the chemical imbalance'" I don't know how new / helpful this would be... But if you think this might be helpful I'll go around digging for sources.

@XidaRen Honestly, it couldn't hurt. It could be convincing to my dad at least

@LivInTheLookingGlass https://slatestarcodex.com/2017/06/28/why-are-transgender-people-immune-to-optical-illusions/ Found one :D On a very very social-reality kind of level, I can imagine a dad using articles like this as a tool to feel smart & in control (which dads tend to love in my experience) for supporting his child getting HRT.

@XidaRen Reading part 1 has me intrigued. I'll try to get through the rest in the next couple days
