Resolution criteria:

This market will resolve to "Yes" if the next individual elected as Pope publicly expresses appreciation for or fandom of the video game Undertale within one year of their election. Acceptable forms of expression include, but are not limited to:

  • Public statements or interviews acknowledging enjoyment of Undertale.

  • Participation in events or activities related to Undertale.

  • Publicly referencing or quoting elements from Undertale in a positive context.

If no such public expression is made by market close, the market will resolve to "No".

Background:

Undertale is a critically acclaimed indie role-playing game released in 2015, known for its unique gameplay mechanics and storytelling. In 2016, YouTuber MatPat gifted a copy of Undertale to Pope Francis during a meeting at the Vatican. In January 2022, a circus performance at the Vatican included a rendition of "Megalovania," a popular track from Undertale, which was performed in the presence of Pope Francis. (exclaim.ca)

While these instances indicate some exposure of the current Pope to Undertale, there is no public record of Pope Francis expressing personal fandom of the game. The resolution of this market depends on whether the next Pope makes such an expression within the specified timeframe.

A bit confused on the resolution for this—the description says within one year of their election? So it’s not too late for the pope to become an undertale fan.

@GleamingRhino "Within one year" in the direction of the past, not the future.
The "If no such public expression is made by market close, the market will resolve to "No"" hopefully made that clear — with the resolution date being shortly after the papal conclave, there should hopefully be no doubt that this referred to the past.

@Lexer makes sense, thanks for clarifying

bought Ṁ50 NO

Lol, are popes known to play video games?
