YES

In late January, the southern portion of Mississippi, including areas along the Gulf Coast, reported heavy and in some places record snowfall.

A recent increase in temperatures due to high air pressure has now changed again, and this week, temperatures in the state are forecasted to dip below freezing overnight.

Opening this market to explore whether or not snow will fall anywhere within the state of Mississippi prior to year’s end.

  • Update 2025-02-18 (PST) (AI summary of creator comment): Resolution Update Details:

    • Data Source: NOAA snowfall tracker available at NOAA Snowfall Tracker.

    • Assumption: The tracker will remain operational (sufficient funding is assumed).

Yesterday’s post showed that multiple locations in Mississippi reported snowfall this past week. Resolving YES

Giving everyone an opportunity to review their investments before I resolve this YES.

NCEI is reporting over a full inch in Pleasant Hill and Guntown. At least a dozen other locations reported traces up to 1 inch of snowfall on 2/19.

If everyone concurs, this will lead to resolution. Thank you!

To resolve this market, I’ll be using the snowfall tracker at NOAA. Going to assume they’ll have enough funding to keep that website running.
